In loving memory of Highland’s 2002 graduate, Corporal Michael Oremus, his friends and the Michael Oremus Foundation host an annual soccer tournament in Michael’s memory. Highland is a town with a longstanding soccer tradition, including multiple state championships and a youth soccer program that has strengthened the community it serves. On November 12th, 2006 the first Michael Oremus Alumni Soccer game was held at the Hudson Valley Sports dome and over 100 Highland alumni soccer players joined the action. This event also serves as the Foundation’s top fundraising event. The tournament has grown in participation since the first one was held in 2006 and includes alumni of the Highland High School soccer teams along with Michael’s friends and and many other teams invited to play in this tournament honoring Michael.

And last but not least, thank you to all the volunteers who contributed their time helping at both the cocktail reception and tournament.
I want to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone involved with making the 3rd Annual Michael Oremus Soccer Tournament a huge success. It would not have been possible without the support, time, care, and love of so many people.
I am so proud of all the people who have contributed to the success of the Foundation and what has been accomplished - providing scholarships and support for childrens’ recreation programs in UlsterCounty. The Foundation is truly keeping Michael’s memory and spirit alive.
Fondly, Madeline Oremus-Palmese
